Ponies For Patriots and Pint Size Therapy

Ponies For Patriots & Pint Size Therapy began with a promise, a grateful mother’s heart, and a miniature horse named Fancy.

Our founder, Dawn Lomelo, is a proud Blue Star Mom, wife, and horsewoman. When her son graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2024 and became a Navy officer, Dawn felt called to turn her gratitude to God into service for others.

With Fancy by her side, she began welcoming veterans to the ranch and visiting people in the community. What started with one little horse has grown into a nonprofit serving veterans, seniors, hospice patients, and children. Sammy and Fabio have since joined our miniature therapy herd, helping us build on the work Fancy began.

Some of the veterans who first came to our ranch as visitors have since become board members, volunteers, dear friends, and some now feel like family. Their encouragement, service, and shared experiences have helped shape who we are today. What began as an invitation to spend time with our horses has grown into lasting friendship with people that care for one another.

Today, our family, veteran board members, volunteers, and supporters help make these experiences possible. Whether we are sharing a peaceful moment at the ranch or bringing a miniature horse into an assisted living community, our purpose remains the same: helping people feel valued, connected, and cared for.
